April 2016, Perk Spearheaded the Family to View the Land

Ready -- Set -- Go! Venturing through our land to make more historical memories

Nate, Rita, Conway, Johnnie, Larry, Angela and other family members joined in on the journey.  
Family traveled from Nebraska, Nevada, California, Virginia, Texas, and of course Mississippi to join in this momentous tour.

This is the well that Henry Tip Smith Sr was thrown into by the KKK.  He was rescued approximately 3-days later after family heard his faint cries.  He was left totally blind; however, he new the land so well, he continued to walk it daily and knew it better than most.

Willis Jackson hid behind this barn to avoid capture from the KKK. They were after him for his 1st pay check.  
(Years ago this area was heavily covered with trees and wild brush--easier to hid.)
